Apart from painting, he does installations, concepual objects, film and video. The formative influence of the city of New York and its painterly theories of the 60ies leads to a new painterly expression in his works that arises the curiosity of his collegues in Berlin already in the 60ies. From than he has not only many admirers but as well followers. His painterly inventions mark as well the beginning of a new movement in expressionist abstract and figurative painting in Berlin. New material is of interest to him, artifical raisin, which he uses since the beginning, is not only less expensive, its luminosity exceeds all expectations. Hödicke's way of painting is determined by a thin brushstroke that often is applied in several layers, but always very transluscient and full of sectrets. His works are painterly modern masterpieces. Hödicke is among the artists who have documented the changes of the city of Berlin in many cityscapes. Whether it be the Brandenburg Gate, the Potsdamer Platz, these symbols of freedom are mirrored in many different ways in his paintings.
